SEO Link Building Strategies

SEO link building is such a time consuming part of our SEO work in order to gain high rankings on the SERPS, so how do we decide exactly which type of links we should be looking for in order for us to create a link building strategy?

Search Engines take a variety of factors into consideration in their ranking algorithms. This information is a closely guarded secret, however, we know that much of the ranking relies on the below 4 items:

1. Diversity of links

Check how many links you have pointing to your website and from how many unique domains and unique C classes. Domains hosted on the same C block may not get as much credit for linking to each other as sites on different C block addresses.

2. Anchor text

Check that the anchor text in the links to your website are mainly your keywords. Links to your site with the words “More Info” and “Click Here” will not be effective.

3. Trust authority

Check which links you already have acquired. Check that you do not have links from link farms and other bad neighborhoods. This is a handy tool to check bad neighborhoods – http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/text-link-tool.htm, however, the final decision must be based on your own intuition as obviously this tool is not 100% accurate.

4. Link juice

Even though there is a lot of talk about Google’s Page Rank no longer being accurate or relevant, this, along with the Mozrank (http://www.seomoz.org/ ) are the main tools that can give you an idea of how much link juice you are getting from other websites. The more links you have from powerful websites the higher the Google Page Rank and Mozrank will be.

Remember one powerful link is worth much more than a load of poor links.

Once you have collected all the information above and compared your website to some of those ranking higher than you it will be possible to conclude what type of websites you are looking for in your SEO link building strategy.
